A meeting of presidents of block panchayats and grama panchayats, convened on Saturday by district panchayat president Eldhose Kunnappilly, decided to intensify action for the prevention of monsoon-related diseases.
The primary objective of the meeting was to evaluate preparatory works for the district health adalat on Tuesday.
The district health adalat will be led by Health Minister V S Sivakumar, and will include MPs and MLAs from the district.
“We have set up complaint boxes in all primary health centres and district medical offices.
We are trying our best to solve complaints at panchayat and block levels.
Those complaints which are not settled at the panchayat and block levels will be settled in the district adalat.
The district panchayat has initiated several programmes to make Ernakulam the leader in the state’s health sector. We want to ensure that health benefits are reaching all sections of population”, Kunnappilly said.
The district panchayat had initiated several projects in the last fiscal, targeting different sections of people including migrant workers.
“We have allocated a good amount of funds for health in this fiscal also”, he added. The health adalat is supposed to attract a large number of participants from all regions in the district.
Bindu George, district panchayat vice-president, Dr Haseena Muhammed, district medical officer, Dr Safiya Beegam, additional district medical officer, Dr Amrithakumari, homoeo medical officer, K K Soman, chairman of the standing committee on health of the district panchayat spoke.
Valsa Kochukunju, chairperson of the standing committee on development, and Sajitha Sidhique, chairperson of the standing committee on public works attended the review meeting.
