Backing its ally CPM, which is facing flak for allegedly keeping under wraps its probe into the murder of party renegade T P Chandrasekharan, the CPI has said the probe need not be made public.
“There is no need for the investigation report to be discussed in public,” CPI state secretary Pannian Raveendran said in a news conference.
“Chandrasekharan’s wife K K Rema and the UDF, which derived benefit out of the killing, should comment on the progress of the investigation,” he said. The CPI’s stand is significant, as senior CPM leader V S Achuthanandan said on Friday that one needs to ‘find out’ why an investigation report by the CPM into the murder of T P Chandrashekaran, is still under the wraps.
Achuthanandan’s comment came on the eve of the Revolutionary Marxist Party leader’s death anniversary. Asked about his reaction to Achuthanandan’s comment, Pannian said that it was the veteran Marxist leader’s opinion.
Chandrasekharan was murdered on May 4 last year.
