Express News Service

The Kerala High Court on Monday sought explanation from the Travancore Devaswom Board and the Devaswom Special Commissioner on a report filed by the Hindu Seva Samiti and the  Ayyappa Seva Sangham that garbage was piling up in a canal near the Erumeli Temple.

A Division Bench comprising Justice T R Ramachandran Nair and Justice A V Ramakrishna Pillai issued the directive suo motu after considering the report.

It is stated in the report that solid waste and toilet waste were being dumped into the canal.

It is also suggested in the report that the issue should be solved before the commencement of the next Sabarimala season.

The Kerala High Court in last February had issued an order to clean up the canal.
