'No link with spot-fixing scandal'

Express News Service

Claiming that he has no involvement in the spot-fixing scandal, model-turned-actor Rajeev Pillai told Express that though he was present at Hotel InterContinental at the time when S Sreesanth was arrested, he was let off immediately after the cricketer’s arrest.

“I do not know how my name got dragged into the controversy. I went to Mumbai in connection with the work of my Hindi film ‘Gurudakshina’. There I got a call from Sreesanth and he told me to meet Uday, who is from Sreesanth’s celebrity managing company Carving Dreams.

He also told me that it will be a boost to my career. Initially, the meeting was supposed to take place at Uday’s residence, but later was shifted to InterContinental. When I reached the hotel, Sreesanth and the director of ‘Gurudakshina’ were present there,” said Pillai.

He said that the arrest happened around that  time and the police asked him to identify himself.
