Resurvey to be conducted at Lulu land

Express News Service

A resurvey will be conducted on Thursday at the area where the Lulu Mall is located at Edappally following a complaint from Kochi Metro Rail Limited.

It was in a letter sent to Kochi Corporation and Kalamassery Municipality a year back that the KMRL authorities had demanded the stoppage of construction on both sides of the Edappally canal. The letter was allegedly hushed up by the officials concerned.

Following the fresh controversy that erupted on Wednesday over the letter,  Ernakulam District Collector P I Sheikh Pareeth ordered a resurvey. “The Kanayannoor taluk surveyor will conduct the resurvey of the area in dispute,” said Pareeth.

On May 19, 2012, the Chief Revenue Officer of KMRL sent letters to the secretaries of Kochi Corporation and Kalamassery Municipality regarding the encroachment of canal purambokke at Edappally.
