BJP’s prime ministerial Candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, on Tuesday alleged that Kerala has turned into a nursery for terrorism.

Unleashing scathing criticism against the Congress as well as the CPM, Modi accused the UDF and LDF of engaging in a “friendly match” in the state.

Addressing a mammoth audience at Kasargod Municipal Stadium as part of the election campaigning of BJP candidate K Surendran, Modi said: “Kerala has vast tourist potential, but unfortunately it has turned into a nursery for terrorism. Despite having all resources, Kerala is lagging behind other states when it comes to development”.

“Kerala has high potential in health tourism and Ayurveda; there is a 580 kilometre coastline; is number one in literacy; still Kerala lags behind. Give me a chance. I desperately want to serve you. I will be able to transform Kerala an export-oriented state”.

Alleging that the government is least bothered about the safety of woman, Modi said Kerala figures on top of 10 states that have been termed as unsafe for women. “Out of these 10 states, six are governed by Congress governments. However, none of these are governed by the BJP government,” Modi said.

Terming the massive migration of educated youths in Kerala to other countries a curse, Modi said, “LDF and UDF in Kerala are fooling people and an illegitimate tie-up exists between these two fronts. Both fronts will even cooperate in concealing their mistakes.”  Referring to the Italian Marines issue Modi asked the state and central government to disclose the steps taken to get them punished. “To which jail have the Marines been sent to?” Modi asked. He said the state government’s attitude towards endosulfan victims was not much different.
