'Triumph of Innocent's Popularity'

Express News Service

ALUVA: P C Chacko, the Congress candidate who lost the election from Chalakkudy constituency, congratulated Innocent for his victory there and the BJP for its triumph at the national level. “It is not the victory of the LDF in Chalakudy. The margin Innocent gained over the Congress came out of his popularity,” he said.

Chacko said the BJP’s victory at the Centre is a convincing one. “The Congress will extend positive support to the BJP and the NDA Government in and outside the Parliament, but we will be watching whether they are keeping the promises they made during the election campaign.

“In the last two terms of the UPA Government, the BJP did not cooperate with it, but the UPA is not going to turn their faces off. We will cooperate with them in all possible manner. In the meantime, we will also be checking if they are tampering with the secularist principles of the country, and if they are found to be doing so, we will use our strength to oppose them,” he said.
