THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Journalists under the Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) took out a march to the Secretariat on Wednesday against the attack on mediapersons at the District Court here. The KUWJ leaders said that a fabricated case was registered against the journalists who were attacked by lawyers. They said that the issues that happened in the court amounted to a law and order situation.

The leaders said that the court should have to control the lawyers. The reporters were present in the court as part of their duty and no lawyer could deny them their right. The leaders demanded that the government  withdraw the false case filed against the four journalists -  Prabhat Nair of ‘The New Indian Express,’ J Ramakrishnan of the PTI , C P Ajitha of Asianet News and Justeena Thomas of ‘Manorama News.’

KUWJ district president C Rahim, secretary B S Prasannan, vice-president Praveen and Press Club president Pradeep Pillai addressed the gathering. The five lawyers - Thiruvananthapuram Bar Association secretary Anayara Shaji, R Rethin, Arun P Nair, Subhash and L R Rahul - who were involved in the brutal attack on journalists - were arrested on Tuesday and later granted station bail.
