CM Pinarayi Vijayan: Centre to implement Student Police Cadet project in all states

 Union Home Ministry has decided to implement the Student Police Cadet (SPC) project in all states in the country and its official launch will be held at the end of the month

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Union Home Ministry has decided to implement the Student Police Cadet (SPC) project in all states in the country and its official launch will be held at the end of the month in Haryana, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said. He was inaugurating ‘Mikavu-2017’, an event to felicitate the cadets who scored top marks in the last SSLC and Plus Two examinations.

“We should be proud of the SPC project as it sets a model for other states,” Vijayan said. “The Union government’s decision is proof the SPC project has gained popularity and recognition across the country.”
 He said the project will be expanded to more schools in the state. “Recently, the government has given nod to start SPC  project in 48 more schools. With this, a total of 574 schools have implemented SPC,” he said. 

He also pointed out the SPC project could enhance students’ physical and mental ability. “SPC is one such project which helps students develop their personality and discipline,” he said. “Students should not only stick to textbooks for learning. There is something more to learning from the world. Besides, SPC can help students learn problem-solving.” 

K Muraleedharan MLA presided over the function. He said the SPC could produce a healthy and disciplined generation in the future thereby building a strong nation.  State Police Chief Loknath Behera welcomed the gathering. Thiruvananthapuram range IG Manoj Abraham, Kochi range IG P Vijayan, ADGP S Ananthakrishnan, Rural SP P Asok Kumar also attended the function.Over hundred of cadets in city and rural police limits were felicitated with medals.
