KOZHIKODE: The Left Democratic Front (LDF) on Friday called for a hartal in Kozhikode district after unidentified men hurled steel bombs when CPM district secretary P Mohanan arrived at the district committee office.

P Mohanan was returning from the party's Feroke committee office at 1:10 am, where an attack had taken place late on Thursday, police said.

Mohanan alleged that the RSS had orchestrated the attack with an intention to kill him and other party workers. A bomb squad visited the scene and collected evidence.

Meanwhile, CPM activists attacked the New Indian Express Photographer A Sanesh and destroyed his camera while he was clicking pictures at the scene.

The LDF hartal coincides with the BJP hartal in five Assembly constituencies in the district on Friday viz., Vadakara, Koyilandi, Nadapuram, Kuttyadi and Perambra, to protest against the alleged attacks by CPI-M activists on various BJP offices on Thursday.
