THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The first IT policy of Pinarayi Vijayan government aims at using information technology for public services and promoting industrial projects. The Chief Minister tabled the draft policy in the Assembly on Wednesday along with sub policies in eight areas.
IT policy envisages utilising digital technology for the development of the state. IT should be used for effective service delivery and make it more easier.
The state has the potential to break the digital divide prevalent in the country, said the Chief Minister.
The new IT policy aims at attracting investments in IT sector and create young entrepreneurs through Startup projects. IT parks - Technopark, Infopark and Cyber park - shall be consolidated under the single brand ‘Kerala IT’.
Digital technology boosts growth of modern industries and economic growth. The policy plans to use IT in three ways - efficiency of manufacturing sector to improve with the introduction of IT, government services can be better delivered though IT and it also creates an environment for employability. “It is possible to develop software and hardware here.
Through this the government aims at creating a base for Navakeralam,” Pinarayi said.
Large projects need the support of IT and hence they will be utilised for human resources, industrial growth, infrastructure development. The new IT framework will open up services based on Internet of Things (IoT), social media, mobility, analytics and cloud.
