ALAPPUZHA: The Revenue Department started the examination of the resurfaced documents related to the construction of Lake Palace Resort owned by Transport Minister Thomas Chandy on Tuesday.
A file, including documents on the permit of 18 buildings constructed in the compound of the resort, had resurfaced on Monday.
The municipal chairman said the documents are proper, however, some officials raised suspicion that some of the papers are missing from the files.
“The land tax receipts and the copy of deeds were not attached with the application. So we suspect some malpractices were carried out in the files after it went missing from the office a month ago,” an officer said.
The files related to the permit granted to 18 buildings - A 1 to A 18 - were found in the cupboard of the engineering wing. However, the files of buildings A 19 to A 34 are still missing.
The disappearance of the files was noticed on August 16 after the Revenue Minister sought a report from the District Collector on the construction of the buildings in 2000. There were also allegations that the minister had filled paddy fields in Marthandam lake violating norms.
