KOCHI:  The High Court on Wednesday extended by one month its interim order directing the police not to arrest Gavaskar, a police driver in Thiruvananthapuram, who was booked for allegedly assaulting the daughter of former Battalion ADGP Sudhesh Kumar. The court had earlier directed the police to produce cas diary of the two cases registered in this regard. The police had also registered a case against Snigdha, the ADGP’s daughter, based on Gavaskar’s complaint.

When the petition filed by Gavaskar seeking to quash the FIR against him came up, the prosecution submitted the investigation was on and would be wrapped up immediately. The call details and tower location of Gavaskar and Snigdha had been collected and asserted.

At the same time, Snigdha’s version in the complaint was not tallying with the hospital records.
The court posted the case to July 19 to ascertain the progress of the probe. Gavaskar alleged he was abused and beaten with a cell phone by Snigdha while he took her in the police car for a morning walk on June 14.
