KOCHI: The Ombudsman-cum-Ethics Officer for the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) on Friday ordered former KCA president T C Mathew to repay the state cricket association a sum of R2.16 crore after an inquiry commission found him guilty of financial misappropriation to that tune.
The ombudsman has given BCCI vice-president Mathew two months to repay the amount to the KCA. The probe was initiated after K Pramod, a representative of the Thrissur District Cricket Association, filed a complaint alleging corruption in the state association and that Mathew had misappropriated funds for personal gains.
If Mathew fails to furnish the amount before the stipulated period, “the secretary of KCA will be entitled to prosecute Mathew for criminal offences including dishonest misappropriation of property, criminal breach of trust, cheating, etc under the IPC by lodging a plaint before the appropriate police station,” the Ombudsman said.
