IDUKKI: As part of the efforts to turn slain SFI leader Abhimanyu’s dream of having an own house - where his family members can live safely and peacefully - into a reality, CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on Monday laid the foundation stone for the house at Vattavada.
Kodiyeri accompanied by CPM central committee member M V Govindan and Power Minister M M Mani reached Vattavada by 10 am. The foundation stone was laid at the 10-cent plot situated 14 km from where the family presently stays. With the memory of the hugely popular live wire comrade, cut down in his prime, alive in their consciousness, the bereaved kin could barely contain their emotions in the presence of the CPM brass.
Later addressing the public meeting, Kodiyeri dubbed Abhimanyu's murder a ‘Taliban- model killing’ and he went as far as to say the murder carried out allegedly by SDPI, ‘ a face of the so-called Islamic State(IS) terror outfit in the country’. He alleged the SDPI and the IS are the two sides of the same coin.
