The death toll in Wayanad landslide rose to seven on Friday after rescue teams recovered one more body from the disaster site, while one person remained missing, district officials said.
The deceased was identified as Rakesh Guchait, a surveyor from West Bengal. Officials said his body was found near the Meenakshi bridge and will be taken to Vythiri Taluk Hospital for postmortem.
Following the postmortem, the body will be shifted to Kozhikode Government Medical College Hospital for embalming before being handed over to the family.
Vikram Rana, a construction manager from Himachal Pradesh, is still untraced.
Search operations resumed early on Friday, the fourth day since the landslide, with teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Fire and Rescue Services, and police personnel deploying heavy earthmovers to clear the debris.
Six bodies had been recovered from the site till Thursday.
The landslide struck on July 7 at the Anakkompoyil–Meppadi tunnel project site, which is being developed to improve connectivity between Wayanad and Kozhikode districts.
