ROURKELA: After considerable delay, winter seems to have set in with temperature plummeting abruptly over the past few days in Sundargarh.

From Friday last till today, the minimum temperature has dipped by eight degree celsius with a thick blanket of fog engulfing the atmosphere from evening till early morning hours.

As per reports, the Steel City today recorded a maximum day temperature of 29.6 degree Celsius while the minimum was 12.4 with the maximum atmospheric humidity pegged at 88.4 per cent. While the minimum temperature in the last six days varied by eight degrees, the variation of maximum temperature was nearly two degrees.

Till a week ago, the climate was akin to pre-summer with the maximum and minimum temperature hovering over 32 and 19 respectively.

On the other hand, the dipping temperature has brought back smiles on the faces of winter wear vendors who are making brisk business.

Almost all big and small garment outlets have piled up stocks, including fancy woolen and synthetic winter clothing.
