To add glamour quotient to the party campaign in the ensuing urban body polls and the general elections to follow next year, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president Naveen Patnaik on Saturday inducted Odia cinestar Anubhav Mohanty to the party.

“I am delighted that Anubhav Mohanty, our famous film star, has joined the Biju Janata Dal. This will give us a tremendous boost to the spirit of the young brigade of the party,” Naveen told mediapersons at Navin Niwas.

Expressing gratitude to Patnaik, Anubhav said, “I am a fan of this party and our Chief Minister. I am definitely going to work for the people.”

BJD had earlier inducted another Odia film actor Siddhant Mohapatra just before the 2009 elections and he was elected from the Berhampur Lok Sabha seat in Ganjam district. Veteran cinestar Prashant Nanda had joined the BJD in June last year after severing ties with the NCP. Former Indian hockey captain Dilip Tirkey was also present beside the Chief Minister when Anubhav joined BJD.

Telugu superstar and Union Minister of State for Tourism K Cheeranjivi during his visit to Odisha last week had assured the Congress leadership here that he will campaign for the party candidates in the ensuing elections. Cheeranjivi’s assurance had come following a request from the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik to campaign for the party in next elections.
