65 year old dies of Sunstroke

Tension gripped Chanda street in Seragada gram panchayat after a 65-year-old man reportedly died of sunstroke while standing in front of the panchayat office to receive subsidised rice.

Budhiram Padhi, a BPL card holder of Chanda street in Seragada, was standing in queue in front of panchayat office to collect PDS rice, when he collapsed and died by the time locals rushed him to hospital. As news spread, locals blocked the road demanding compensation.

Kuni, wife of Budhiram, also alleged that her husband died of sunstroke as he had to stand in scorching sun for long hours. Agitators were pacified after the Tehsildar released Rs 10,000 for funeral expenses of Budhiram from the Red Cross fund.
