Lightning kills one, injures 10

Lightning claimed life of one and injured 10 others near Sikanbadi village in Nuagaon block in Kandhamal district on Wednesday.

The district experienced heavy rain followed by wind and lightning on Wednesday morning. Sources said a group of villagers of Odrapanka village were proceeding towards a neighbouring village Sikanbadi to attend a marriage ceremony when they had to take shelter under a tree following sudden rains. Lightning struck the tree and one among them Subodh Pradhan died on the spot.

Those injured were admitted to Raikia hospital.
