Sankalp Yatra fourth round after Raja fest

Express News Service

Encouraged by the overwhelming response from the people during his third leg of the Sankalp Yatra, BJP’s State unit president K V Singhdeo will undertake his fourth round of public contact programme after the Raja festival.

KV covered four districts Jajpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore   during his three-day Sankalp Yatra.

“The public mood is upbeat and the response that the party has received in the four districts is beyond our imagination,”  BJP spokesperson Sajan Sharma, who accompanied KV in his public contact programme, said.

After his appointment as president of the  State party unit in April, KV has already covered all the southern and a few parts of western Odisha districts.

The party is highlighting misgovernance of the Naveen Patnaik Government and the number of scams, including the mining scam, which is termed as the scam of the century.

The latest multi-crore chit fund scam has come in handy to corner the ruling BJD.

Sharma was candid enough to admit that the large turnout of people at the public meetings may not be translated into votes if the next general election is advanced, but the fact remains that Sankalp Yatra has definitely given a momentum to party cadre, who were so far feeling dejected.

The public contact programme of the party has given a boost to the cadre and if the momentum continues, the party will benefit immensely in the next election, he said.

KV and general secretary of the organisation, Prasanna Mishra, on Wednesday left for Goa to attend the two-day national executive committee meeting of the BJP, starting June 8.

The State executive meeting of the party is scheduled on June 12.

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj, was scheduled to attend the first state executive committee meeting under the leadership of  KV Singhdeo.

She has to cancel her Odisha visit due to her pressing engagement in Delhi, Sharma said.
