Jagneswar gets bail

The Orissa High Court on Tuesday  granted bail to secretary general of Odisha Jan Morcha (OJM) Jagneswar Babu in the two cases of corruption lodged against him by the Vigilance Wing of the State police.

Vacation judge Justice B K Nayak, while granting bail to Babu, has directed that the terms and conditions would be set by the Special Vigilance Court. The Vigilance Court had earlier rejected the bail petitions of Babu and extended his judicial custody.

Babu had been arrested by the Vigilance on May 2 on charges of gross irregularities committed by him during his tenure as the president of the Odisha State Cooperative Bank (OSCB). He was alleged to have illegally sanctioned loans to the tune of around `37 crore to Bijayananda Cooperative Sugar Mills at Balangir of which he was also the president. The Vigilance had filed two cases against him. over fraudulent sanction of crop loan for disbursal to the farmers and another for infrastructural development of the sugar mill.
