Contractors held for misbehaviour

Uneasy prevails in Rajakhandi village under Tikabali block in Kandhamal district following the arrest of three contractors on Friday.

The trio identified as Manoj Nayak, Mitu Das and Lalit Nayak had allegedly misbehaved with the BDO, Santosh Kumar Sahu on Thursday.

Following which the BDO lodged a complaint with the police who arrested the three on Friday and forwarded to court.

However, the arrested three alleged that they were entrusted with the construction of two buildings for anganwadi centre at Nangriguda and Khandikuti. Though the construction was almost completed they have not received any payment despite the provision of part payment.

The three further alleged that despite their repeated appeals no steps were taken in this regard. "On Thursday when we approached the BDO, instead of payment the BDO ill treated us and even remarked on our caste," alleged Manoj.

They also alleged that though they had lodged a complaint with police against the BDO the police acted on BDOs complaint, the accused added.
