Express News Service

The Economic Offences Wing on Friday cracked down on more property of the Seashore Group in the City and confiscated them. At least two flats were detected by the enforcement agency at Sita Khetra Apartments located in Sriram Nagar area of Samantarapur area.

The two flats were apparently purchased by Seashore Securities, an arm of the Seashore Group, in 2009. One was unoccupied while the other was rented out to a retired doctor. The two flats - with a total built up space of 3,000 sq ft - were bought at about ` 65 lakh four years back. The current market value is expected to be about Rs  1 crore.

While the EOW sealed off the unoccupied flat, it has served a notice on the tenant of the other one asking him to vacate it so that the property can be confiscated.

At least 15 more properties of the Seashore Group including farmhouses, factories and offices have so far been seized by the EOW and sealed.

Meanwhile, the agency has secured the remand of Narayan Nayak, head of Umamani Constructions, for a day. Nayak, who was arrested on charges of cheating customers, is in EOW remand for the second time. Earlier, he was brought on a two-day remand.
