Kisan Morcha fights for farmers

The Kisan Morcha of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday demanded adequate compensation to the family of Padahalam Pangi and Shyamsunder Jena who committed suicide under duress.

A team of the Morcha led by Maheswar Sahu visited the families of Pangi (40), a resident of Badpadar village under Nandapur block in Koraput district and Jena (42) of Achyutarajpur under Banpur NAC in Khurda district. The team talked to the family members of the deceased persons and people of the two villages. Family members of Pangi and Jena told the team that they committed suicide due to failure of vegetable crop and increasing loan burden. The Morcha demanded compensation of ` five lakh to each family of deceased and other welfare assistance under Indira Awas Yojana and widow pension to their spouses.
