Autorickshaw drivers attack city bus

Express News Service

A group of autorickshaw drivers went berserk and damaged a City Bus following a freak mishap near Station Square here on Monday. They also bashed up the bus driver.

The incident occurred when the bus hit the rear of an autorickshaw damaging it partially. The bus was trailing the autorickshaw and when the latter applied sudden brake, the bus driver attempted to bring the vehicle to a halt but it hit the smaller vehicle’s rear end.

This led to an altercation between the two drivers. Since the junction is a parking lot for autorickshaws, more drivers joined in and pelted stones at the bus damaging its glass panels. They also dragged the driver and roughed him up. By the time Kharavela Nagar police reached the spot, the show had ended. Two cases have been registered.
