Decision on e-auction of liquor on 30th

Express News Service

The State Government will take a decision on the proposed e-auction of the Indian Made Foreign Liquor and country spirit shops on Thursday.

Though the Government in its excise policy for 2013-14 had decided to go for e-auction of IMFL and country spirit shops to increase excise revenue, the new policy could not be implemented due to lack of preparedness of the Government.

Meanwhile, the Government is reported to have given further extension of two months till July pending final approval of the Cabinet of the new policy.

The proposal of e-auctioning of IMFL shops tops the agenda of the State Cabinet meeting on Thursday.

As e-auctioning of IMFL off-shops for 2013-14 was extended by two months till end of May, the State Government has to take a decision on the matter.

The Government had granted two months’ extension with a hike of 20 per cent on their licence fee. The other agenda of the State Cabinet is approval of the Odisha Ayurvedic and Homeopathic Doctors Service Rules.

The IMFL off-sops have been opposing the e-auction on the ground that it would attract players from outside the State which would lead to hike in liquor prices putting customers at a loss.
