Dhenkanal tops in plus II success rate

It was celebration time for students in Dhenkanal who had appeared at the Plus Two examination this year. For, the district recorded the highest pass percentage of 85.70 in Science and 82.33 in Arts streams. At various places in the town, students exchanged sweets after the results were declared on Wednesday.

As many as 2,505 students appeared Plus Two Science exam in Dhenkanal of which, 2147 cleared with 557 securing first division. Similarly in Arts stream, 5,960 students appeared.

Out of them, 4907 cleared and 518 students got first division. In Commerce, 482 students appeared the test and 372 cleared. A total of 8,947 students from the district sat for the Plus Two examination and 7,426 cleared.

At Dhenkanal Junior College, 253 students appeared the Science examination. Of them, 157 secured first class, 68 second and 19 third. In Arts stream of the college, 127 students appeared and 14 of them cleared with first class.

Nineteen students secured second class and 40 third. In Commerce stream, 92 students appeared the test and 16 of them scored first class while 27 passed with second class and 38 with third.

In Odapada Panchayat Samiti Mahavidyalaya, however, the results were not satisfactory. Sixtytwo students appeared the Science examination and 19 of them cleared with first class. But in Arts stream, out of 121 candidates, only five secured first class.

In Commerce stream, 24 students appeared but only two secured first class. Principal of the Mahavidyalaya Harekrushna Kar said students will been encouraged to perform better.

Pass percentage was also high in colleges at Gondia and Indipur.

No Impressive Show at Sundargarh

Rourkela: As many as 7,721 of the total 16,805 students from Sundargarh district cleared the Plus Two examination with a pass percentage of 45.94.

Altogether 9,610 students appeared in Arts and 4,608 students passed the examination with 268 bagging first division, 1,050 second and 3,187 third divisions. Results of 258 students were withheld for malpractice.In Science, 2,077 students cleared the examination with 430 securing first division, 602 second and 927 third division. A total of 5,016 students had appeared and 67 were booked for copying.

Similarly in Commerce, 1,086 of total 2,179 students succeeded.
