Governor SC Jamir inaugurated the 2013 IYF World Camp here on Sunday. The world camp, organised under the aegis of International Youth Fellowship (IYF) in different countries, aims at inculcating comprehensive global outlook in today’s youth through culture and understanding.
Speaking on the occasion, Jamir said youths constitute a vital and vibrant human resource which has the ability to shape destiny of the country. They have a right as well as an obligation to participate actively in national as well as global development and strengthen the citadels of peace, love and goodwill.
Students from 10 countries including South Korea, South Africa, Thailand, Vietnam, Czech Republic and France are participating in this international youth festival being hosted by KIIT University.
The three-day camp will pack in a host of events including symposiums, guest lectures, cultural performances, sports activities, classical music and orchestra. The inaugural day saw a panel discussion on “Contemporary Youth Challenges” in which actors Gulshan Grover and Kunal Kapoor took part. Campus tour, mind lecture, mini Olympic and special lecture on “A Happy Life with Family” were other attractions on the first day. Over the next two days, marathons, water polo and IYF Got Talents are scheduled.
Finance Minister Prasanna Acharya, IYF Director, India Kim Soo Yeon, General Secretary, IYF Kim Jin Soo and Founder of KIIT and KISS Achyuta Samanta also spoke.
