An electronic banking awareness and technology (e-BAAT) programme was organised by the State Bank of India in collaboration with Reserve Bank of India and National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) at the Town Hall here on Tuesday.

The programme focused on banking transactions through e-banking on basis of modern electronic payments. The customers were exhorted to opt for internet and mobile banking which is not only beneficial for them but also for bankers and Government.

RBI General Manager (banking) V Ranga Rao said the Government taxes to the tune of crores of rupees are paid through electronic mode.

Addressing the gathering, State Chief General Manager of SBI KM Trivedi said e-BAAT ensures 24/7 services through internet banking, mobile banking, ATM, cash deposits through green remit cards, funds transfer and online banking.

SBI DGM Shreekant and SBI Chief Manager PK Bhuyan also participated in the event. Later in the day, bankers gave away computers to local State Government-run schools for promotion of computer literacy.
