MALKANGIRI: Installation of span girders at Gurupriya bridge, the dream project of the State Government, has been resumed nearly a month after three slabs slipped while being anchored in the pre-stressed concrete (PSC) girders between P10 and P11 on July 25.
Informing this, construction agency Royal Infraconstru Ltd’s project manager Niranjan Kumar said the erection work of girders between P10 and P11 has been going on a war footing to fill up the gap caused due to the mishap. It will be completed by the end of this month. This apart, two spans of steel girders have already been erected from P11, he added.
Meanwhile, a team of experts comprising Executive Engineer (Projects) of Works Department Dr NC Pal, Kolkata-based Royal Infraconstru Ltd’s designer Abhijeet Chakrabarthy, Project Coordinator Ushnish Dutta and Malkangiri Executive Engineer Arun Mumar Sahu visited the bridge site at Janbai on Monday to review the progress. Steps are now being taken to erect steel girders in deep water zone of the river.
While Royal Infraconstru is constructing the bridge, the Public Works Department (PWD) has assigned the supervision work to Architechno Consultants Pvt Ltd since December 29, 2015.
Dr Pal said the department and the construction agencies are working hard to ensure quality and timely completion of the project. The bridge is likely to open for public by the end of this year, he added.
