DEOGARH: A 55-year-old man was killed by his son at Rairatanpur within Kundeigola police limits in the district on Saturday evening. The deceased was identified as Cheru Sethi. Police have detained the accused son, identified as Bhagwan Sethi (19).

Sources said Cheru was abusing his wife when Bhagwan intervened and opposed his father's act. This enraged Cheru who turned his ire on Bhagwan. In a fit of rage, Bhagwan shoved his father who fell on the ground.

This aggravated the situation as Cheru started attacking Bhagwan with a stick. In retaliation, Bhagwan snatched the stick from his father and hit him, killing Cheru on the spot.
