BHUBANESWAR: Hinting at massive organisational changes in the State unit of Congress in coming days, party president Rahul Gandhi on Sunday appointed three former MLAs - Rudra Raju, Anil Kumar Chaudhary and Shaikh Mastan Vali - as new AICC secretaries replacing Subhankar Sarkar.

The three were appointed as the secretaries of AICC for the State of Odisha with immediate effect. While Raju and Vali are from Andhra Pradesh, Chaudhary is from Delhi. Besides, Congress leader Aditya Sharma from Delhi has been appointed as joint secretary AICC for Odisha with immediate effect, a release said.

“The party appreciates the hard work and contribution of Shubhankar Sarkar, who will be stepping down from his responsibility as AICC secretary for Odisha,” AICC general secretary Ashok Gehlot said. President of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) Prasad Harichandan had said on Saturday that  there will be a massive restructuring in the State unit in the coming days.

Former union minister Jitendra Singh was appointed last week as Odisha in-charge of Congress by replacing BK Hariprasad. The changes in the AICC in-charges for Odisha has come after a large number of Congress leaders quit the party to join BJD from several parts of the State.
