Panel to begin probe into missing Ratna Bhandar key from today

CUTTACK: The Commission of Inquiry appointed by the State Government to inquire and report on the missing keys of the inner chamber of ‘Ratna Bhandar’ of Jagannath temple will start functioning from Friday. Informing this retired Justice Raghubir Dash said the State Government published the Gazette notification and the Commission of Inquiry will start functioning from Friday, said Justice Dash while speaking to mediapersons on Thursday.

As per the three terms of references (TORs), the Judicial Commission will examine the sequence of events prior to the missing of ‘Ratna Bhandar’ key and also the circumstances leading to non-availability of key. “There are many ancillary works to be accomplished and the Commission in the first phase will seek information from all stakeholders and persons concerned in connection with the matter through affidavits,” Dash said.

The State Government has given three months time and if necessitated, the Commission will seek more time to examine, inquire and report on the matter, he added. “I have requested government for setting up Commission’s headquarter at Cuttack. The State Government has considered the proposal and made correspondence with Cuttack Collector to provide a place in Cuttack for setting up the Commission office.”
