BHUBANESWAR: Capital city is all set to host a two-day ‘AgriVikas-2018’ conclave from June 29 to showcase the potential of agriculture and allied sectors.As many as 1,000 progressive farmers from various districts along with agro-entrepreneurs, investors, central organisations as well as corporate bodies will gather under one roof during the event to be organised in SOA University campus here.

“The event, supported by National Institute of Agriculture Marketing (NIAM) and KPMG as knowledge partners, is being organised in the country for the first time,” said Dean of Institute of Agricultural Sciences and Faculty of Agriculture, SOA, Prof BK Sahu.

According to Sahu, six Union ministries have thrown their weight behind ‘AgriVikas-2018’. They are Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Ministry of Food Processing, Ministry of Commerce, Industries and Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (P&G) and Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

Besides, three union ministers -- Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Gajendra Singh Sekhawat and Giriraj Singh along with State Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Minister Surya Narayan Patro are scheduled to grace the event.

Government agencies and other organisations including TRIFED, NAFED, NCDC and Agriculture Skill Council would exhibit methods to address problems in agriculture for the participants. Around 150 stalls would be set up for the purpose.

While SOA is the primary organiser, CYSD, Sahavagi Vikash Abhiyan and Research and Development Consultancy are also involved, SOA officials said.
