Additional DCP to probe rape slur on IRS officer

The woman’s medical examination was carried out in a hospital and her statements were recorded in a court here on Monday.

BHUBANESWAR: An additional DCP rank officer has been tasked to supervise the investigation of the alleged rape case against a senior IRS officer.

A 38-year-old woman had accused the senior officer, posted in GST, Central Excise and Customs, Bhubaneswar zone, of raping her at his quarter within Saheed Nagar police limits on January 15. She had lodged a complaint in this regard with Saheed Nagar police on February 20. She had also accused the officer’s cousin sister of making her objectionable photograph viral.

The woman’s medical examination was carried out in a hospital and her statements were recorded in a court here on Monday. Police said the officer was on leave but he resumed his duty on the day. “The allegations are being looked into and further action will be initiated accordingly,” said a senior police officer.
