CHENNAI: The All India president of the Indian National League (INL), Prof Mohammed Sulaiman, on Thursday made it clear that his partymen would extend their support to the AIADMK front in the State and even contest the Lok Sabha elections after finalising the seat-sharing talks with the alliance partner.

Addressing the media, Sulaiman, who had come from Delhi to meet his party office-bearers in connection with the seat-sharing talks with the AIADMK, exuded confidence that his partymen in Tamil Nadu would prove their worth by winning the two seats allotted to them.

He also said that Jayalalithaa would play a key role in the formation of a Third Front government at the Centre and even emerge as a choice for the post of Prime Minister.

The INL leader said that his party office-bearers in Tamil Nadu had a wish list of five Lok Sabha constituencies -- Vellore, Ramanathapuram, Central Chennai, Mayiladuthurai and Theni -- though their choice would narrow down to two key constituencies namely Vellore and Mayiladuthurai.

“The AIADMK leader has invited us for talks on Thursday evening and our committee headed by MGK Nizamuddin, state general secretary of the INL, will discuss the prospects of getting two seats,” he said, adding that the INL had already won from the Vellore constituency in the past. Sulaiman said the role of regional parties would have a significant bearing on the formation of a federal government at the Centre.
