DHARMAPURI: The Medical Council of India (MCI) inspected the infrastructure and staff strength of the Government Dharmapuri Medical College (GDMC) on Wednesday to assess if it was eligible to continue its second year’s course of study and to admit students in the first year.
A team of members, led by Dr Vyas, chief inspector, MCI, visited the GDMC and inspected the infrastructure facilities. The panel visited the newly-constructed blocks and the building allotted for the faculty.
The panel also held discussions with the director of medical education, Dr Vinayagam, and the dean in-charge, V Kanagasabai, on the staff ’s potential.
According to Kanagasabai, the team inspected the infrastructure facilities at the college after the Supreme Court had directed the MCI to do so and submit its report before September 18.
He said that the panel that inspected GDMC would fax the report to the MCI, which would submit the assessment before the Supreme Court.
Kanagasabi added that he was expecting MCI’s approval for the college’s course soon.
