CHENNAI: Five senior IPS officers in the rank of Inspector General of Police, including Suburban Police Commissioner S R Jangid, were promoted as Additional Director General of Police by the State government on Thursday.

An official press release said Sangaram Jangid, IGP/CoP, Chennai Suburban Police, had been promoted as ADGP/CoP, Chennai Suburban Police.

K Muthukaruppan, chief vigilance officer, State Transport Corporation (Kumbakonam) Ltd, Tiruchy, had been promoted and posted as ADGP/director of civil defence and additional commandant general, Home Guards, Chennai in the existing vacancy.

I Raja, IGP/Chief vigilance officer, Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Ltd (Karur) had been promoted and posted as ADGP, State Planning Cell, Chennai, in the existing vacancy. JK Tripathy, IGP, Prisons, had been promoted as ADGP and IGP of Prisons, and CK Gandhirajan, IGP, Headquarters, Chennai, had been promoted and posted as ADGP, Enforcement, Chennai.
