CHENNAI: AIADMK MLA from Thirumangalam constituency, M Muthruramalingam, on Thursday urged the State to revive the Tha Kiruttinan murder case and file an appeal against the Chittoor court verdict.

Participating in the discussion on the revised budget for the year 2011-12 in the Assembly, said when the murder case was heard in Chittoor court, one of the then Ministers in the State government came to the court on all days and was intimidating the court.

Being a government witness in the case, he too received threats, he said. But the threats subsided after AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa issued a statement announcing that the party would move the Supreme Court to protect him

He said the State should file an appeal and ensure that the real culprits were punished. Former State Highways Minister, Kiruttinan, was murdered near his residence in Madurai in 2003. Union Minister M K Azhagiri and 12 others accused in the murder were acquitted in May 2008.
