TIRUCHY: Former Minister K N Nehru, who was brought from Cuddalore prison and produced before the Judicial Magistrate Court, was remanded to custody in a land grabbing case on Thursday and a fresh case was registered against him. A fresh complaint against 10 persons including Nehru, his brother K N Ramajeyam, deputy Mayor M Anbalagan and others was lodged by a realtor. Subsequently the city police registered a case against them and arrested Kottapattu Shanmugam (53), Kottapattu Sedhu (56), Kamaraj (60), Madhankumar (37) and Karthi (30) who were also allegedly involved in the offence.

On Wednesday, both Anbalagan and Ramajeyam were produced before the court and were remanded.  

On Thursday, on information about Nehru’s arrival, DMK cadre gathered on court premises in large number. Heavy posse of police was deputed on duty.

Meanwhile, the city police also registered another case against Nehru on Madurai Bench of Madras High Court’s direction. According to the police, Y Solomon Devaraj (51) of Ponmalaipatti lodged a complaint with the City Crime Branch on September 17 stating that Nehru, Ramajeyam, Anbalagan, Satyamurthy of Pudukkottai and Madhi alais Mathialagan of Kalkondar Kottai forged documents for 4.5 acres of land worth `2.95 crore in K Sathanur after threatening him of dire consequences.

While the investigations were on, Solomon approached Madurai Bench, Madras High Court and got the direction for filing a case against them. Based on the direction, police registered a case.
