PMK wants to merge Andhra taluks with Tamil Nadu

Express News Service

PMK founder S Ramadoss on Saturday demanded that eight taluks in Andhra Pradesh including Tirupati, Kalahasthi, Puthur, Sathyavedu and Chittoor where the population of Tamils is high should be merged with Tamil Nadu.

In a statement here, Ramadoss said the above areas were unfairly merged with Andhra Pradesh during the reorganisation of States in 1950s. After steps to carve out a Telangana State intensified, 75 village panchayats in these Tamils-dominated areas have adopted resolutions demanding their merger with Tamil Nadu.

Ramadoss said a special session of the  TN Assembly should be convened to discuss the issue and a resolution seeking merger should be adopted and sent to the Centre for further action.
