iPod, phone stolen from car; one held

Bagayam Police on Tuesday nabbed a 42-year-old habitual offender for stealing an iPod and a smartphone of a senior government employee of Karnataka, who had come to Golden Temple.

Bagayam Police on Tuesday nabbed a 42-year-old habitual offender for stealing an iPod and a smartphone of a senior government employee of Karnataka, who had come to Golden Temple.

Sadachari Samy (52), a senior government employee of Karnataka and resident of Bangalore had lodged a complaint stating that his mobile phone and iPod kept in his car had been stolen on June 2. He said he had parked the car near the Golden Temple around 3.30 pm and had gone to the temple.  When he returned around 5.30 pm, he found the left front door of the car unlocked and the phone and iPod missing, police said.

Inspector of Bagayam Station V Raja launched a search for the culprit. On tracking the location of the mobile phone using GPS facility in it, police caught Sivan (alias) Velan (alias) Panneerselvam of Ammur village red-handed with the stolen electronic gadgets.

“Over 60 cases had been registered against him in various stations in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu,” inspector Raja said. He was remanded to the Vellore Central Prison for Men.
