Match fixing scam: CBI inquiry sought

Express News Service

An advocate based in Madurai has filed a petition in the Madras High Court (Madurai Bench) seeking a direction to the CBI to probe in coordination with the Interpol all cricket related scams that took place since 2008. The advocate had recently filed another petition seeking a direction to the Centre to take over administration of cricket in India from the BCCI.

He appealed to the court to hear his latest petition alongside the main application which is scheduled for hearing later this month.

Alleging that the cricketing world has witnessed several scams and involved big players like the late South African captain Hansie Cronje and also underworld dons, he sought a thorough probe into them. He also cited the mysterious death of former English cricketer and Pakistan cricket coach Bob Woolmer who was found dead in Jamaica during the World Cup held in West Indies as a reason for seeking an investigation with Interpol help. The petition is likely to be heard later this month.
