Wife kills man after tiff over illicit affair

A woman murdered her husband with the help of her paramour and three others here on Friday.

Sources said that Sudha (30), wife of Babu (38), a coolie worker in Angammal street in Berigai, was having a relationship with one Venkatachalapathy (24) of the same area.

When Babu came to know about their relationship, he warned Sudha and asked her not to meet Venkatachalapathy any more. Ignoring his warnings, Sudha continued her affair with Venkatachalapathy. Angered by this, Babu refused to allow Sudha to go out of the house.

Sudha, who was irritated by her husband’s action, hatched a plan along with Venkatachalapathy and his friends Anjappa, Muniappa and Sreenivasan, to murder her husband. Accordingly Sudha has mixed sleeping pills in the food and served it to Babu two days ago. Babu, who was not aware of the plan, took the food and fainted soon after. Sudha and others swung into action strangulated him to death.

To escape the suspicion of neighbours, Sudha told them that her husband died of heart attack in the midnight. Believing her words, Babu’s relatives took the body to their native place Nallur.

The murder came to light after relatives spotted injuries on the neck while performing last rites to Babu on Friday. Following this, Manjunath, one of the relatives of Babu, lodged a complaint with Berigai police.

The police recovered the body and s ent it to Hosur GH. The autopsy report confirmed that he was strangulated to death. The cops found out that Sudha along with four others had murdered Babu. The police has arrested Sudha, Venkatachalapathy,  Anjappa and Muniappa while Sreenivasan has gone into hiding.
