A 90-year-old man stabbed his 50-year-old son after the latter asked him not to waste water at their house near Pollachi on Friday evening.
The injured son beat up the father in retaliation and both of them are undergoing treatment at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH), police said on Saturday. According to police, 90-year-old Sithayyan lived with his son Nataraj at Mahatma Gandhi Nagar in Sulueswaranpatti near Pollachi.
On Thursday morning, Nataraj asked his father not to waste water. However Sithayyan did not heed to his words and this led to a heated argument between them. Later, Nataraj slapped his father and went to work at a garment factory in Tirupur.On Friday evening, a similar quarrel took place again when Nataraj returned home after work.. Irked, Sithayyan stabbed his son on his hip using a knife. In retaliation, Nataraj slapped his father, who fell down and suffered head injuries. Both of them were taken to CMCH after getting initial treatment at Pollachi government hospital. According to police, both of them are out of danger and are likely to be discharged in a couple of days.
Pollachi Town Police registered an attempt to murder case against the father.
