The remand custody of PMK founder S Ramadoss who is in prison here was extended till May 16 with two fresh cases filed against him on Saturday. A few of the detained PMK workers including former MP Dhanraj and ex MLA Anandaraman were released on bail.
Madurai Vilakkuthoon Police registered a case against Ramadoss under three IPC sections including 506 (ii) (Criminal intimidation) for the assault on a fan of actor Rajinikanth in 2004 in which Ramadoss was the prime accused and Madurai Judicial Magistrate (in-charge) Ravi served PT warrant against Ramadoss.
Subsequently, Vilakkuthoon police arrived at Central prison here on Friday late at night and detained him. Subsequently, as per the request of the Magistrate Ravi, Tiruchy Judicial Magistrate Rajaram went to the prison early on Saturday and remanded Ramadoss under judicial custody till May 16.
Meanwhile, Koodankulam police also registered a case against Ramadoss for staging a demonstration at Koodankulam in defiance of police orders on September 3, 2012 and the Valliyoor court served the PT warrant against Ramadoss on Friday.
On Saturday, Koodankulam police team led by inspector Rajpaul arrived at the prison and detained him. Due to the poor health condition of Ramadoss, the police made arrangements for judicial custody by local magistrate.
On Friday, Kancheepuram police registered two more cases against PMK leaders in connection with Chithirai Muzhunilavu Peruvizha meeting organised by the Vanniyar Sangam in 2012 at Mamallapuram and the police arrived at the Central prison with PT warrant against Ramadoss and G K Mani and wanted to take them to produce before Thirukazhukundram Judicial Magistrate court.
Since the health condition of the 75-year-old Ramadoss was fragile and he could not cope up with the journey, the magistrate from Thirukazhukundram Siva arrived at the Central prison and remanded him under judicial custody till May 16.
