A real estate businessman from Krishnanpudur, who went missing on May 19, was found murdered in a well at Erumapalayam on Monday morning. Police recovered severed body parts of the victim from the well.
Five persons, including a woman and her son, have been picked up and being interrogated by the police in connection with the murder.
Sources said Renganathan alias Koozh Renganathan, a realtor, left home in a scooter and did not return. His family members searched for him in various place but could not trace him. Later, they lodged a complaint with the Veeranam Police.
On Monday morning the Village Administrative Officer of Erumapalayam informed the Kitchipalayam police that a body was found in a well in his locality.
Police rushed to the spot, recovered the sack from the well which contained some body parts of the victim.
Based on some clues, cops established that the body was that of missing real estate businessman Renganathan.
Upon completion of necessary formalities, the investigation into the case was taken over by the Veeranam Police.
After preliminary investigations the Veeranam Police picked up Apsara Banu (41) of Pachapatti, her son Basha (23), his friends, Udayakumar (23) of Kitchipalayam, S Poovarasan of Pachapatti and P Kumaresan (22) of Ashoknagar.
Basha according to police, during interrogations admitted to having murdered Renganathan with the help of his friends to settle scores in a prior motive.
Formal arrest of Basha and his friends will be made after verifying the former’s statements, police said
