The Central and State Governments must introduce reforms in the education framework to facilitate speedier development on all fronts, said VIT Chancellor G Viswanathan, here on Sunday. He was speaking at a function organised by the Vellore and Tiruvannamalai Districts Teachers Welfare and Education Development Trust. The trust also conferred on him the title of Kalvi Perarasar in recognition of his contribution to the field of education.
Viswanathan said education alone could lead the country towards achieving overall growth and development. “I am sad to note that we are still lagging behind in education,” he added.
As India would be emerging as the country with the highest youth population in the world over the next 30 years, housing 50 per cent of the population in the age group of 25,“We have great responsibility and urgency to provide quality education to all our youngsters in the future,” Viswanathan added further.
