Four held for selling banned lotteries

Four persons, including two councillors of Gudiyattam Municipality, were arrested for gambling and selling banned lotteries in Gudiyattam town on Monday and Tuesday.

Srinivasan (30), councillor of Ward 11 and resident of Pitchanur village, Gopi (39), councillor of Ward 35 and Gopal Krishnan (49), (both residents of Nellurpettai) and Manoharan (43) of Santhapettai were arrested for selling banned lotteries in and around Gudiyattam Town, police said.

The police registered a case against the four under Sections 5 and 7 of the Lottery Regulation Act (read with 420, 353, 506 (ii) of IPC).  The arrested were remanded to the Vellore Central Prison for Men.
